2018 Video Recap: 2017 Champion’s Gala
In December of last year, H1 Unlimited Hydroplane Racing Series announced the “Champion’s Gala” to be held in Tri-Cities, Washington in February, 2018. The gala was to commemorate the 2017 season and to kick off 2018.

Why, then, you ask, are we starting focus on 2018 “recaps?” The season is only about 75% complete.
Well, the purpose is to introduce something new I’m going to try.
Champion’s Gala is First Installment
If you were fortunate enough to be close to Tri-Cities, Washington, or if you had a way to visit the Pacific Northwest and attend the gala, you know the fun of this kind of event. The drinks, the chit-chat, the drinks, the dinner, the drinks… wait… never mind.
Seriously, getting the chance to rub elbows with your favorite drivers and teams is a great thrill for any of Unlimited Hydroplane Racing’s #DamnSmartFans!
However, if you couldn’t attend, we have a deal for you!
The Gala was held February 10 and H1 Unlimited streamed it online. It was over a 3 hours long. Again, if you couldn’t attend -AND- if you didn’t catch it live, we have it conveniently served up for you right here:
Kick off your shoes, get comfortable, and enjoy the evening at your leisure.
TL;DR Recap
You may have seen this technique used before. When an online story is so long that many people simply don’t read it, the “Too Long; Didn’t Read” version helps to get the point across with minimal time investment.
Although not exactly a recap of the Gala, it is a great recap to the 2017 season. H1 Unlimited used this 3.5 minute slideshow at the end of the Gala to bring the evening’s festivities to a close.

Watch for More Video Recaps
I’m starting with the first event of 2018 as a way to test out this “video recap” concept. My hope is that pulling great videos together on each of the 2018 events will be a great way to relive the excitement, or simply get caught up if attendance wasn’t possible.
