My Kingdom for a Schedule

ScheduleEven during the season of giving, it continues to be a challenge to find definitive information on Unlimited Hydroplane Racing schedules.  Sure, I (think I) understand that it can take a while to confirm dates along with venue planning, teams, owners, moon phases and any number of other important information needed to nail down dates.

OK, I get it.

By why can’t the one source of information, the sanctioning body, keep us loyal (albeit newer fans) updated on the progress?  To help myself track the tentative dates, changes, rumors, thoughts and even wishful thinking, I created my own schedule on Unlimited Hydroplane racing.  Is it always up to the minute?  Of course not.  Do I try to update it whenever I find information on media sites, forums, race sites, tarot cards, or constellations?  Absolutely!

Look at a recent (why no dates on News items?) post on the H1 site (see graphic to the right.)

A tentative schedule for 2013.  Great!  With 2012 coming to an end, it would make sense to at least get a tentative plan published; something that could have been done months ago.  Remember?  “Tentative.”

But here’s the part that frustrates a fan who wants to get closer to the sport, but for some reason, it seems difficult to get “easy” information like a schedule.  The H1 site still shows 2012 as “tentative.”

OK, again I get it.  Volunteers are probably used to update the site.  Nothing wrong with the site.  In fact, it quite attractive and has a very good layout.  I might suggest adding dates to news releases (see above), but a very good site, nonetheless.

But c’mon… a schedule?  For the current season?  At the time of this writing (the day after Christmas, 2012) it still shows “tentative” on the front page.  (See graphic to the left.)  That’s an issue.

In fact, the schedule drop-down menu along with the individual event pages still show our tentative 2012 schedule and commentary.

I feel the need to apologize for being too critical.  It’s easy to sit here and say, “I want, I want, I want.”  But I really do “want” to be a more informed fan.  I want to become more involved with the sport.  I want to contribute to expanding and solidifying its existence.

But all I wanted for Christmas was a Schedule.
