Welcome to UHR

Welcome to Unlimited Hydroplane Racing – your home for the ultimate racing sport!

We are all about Unlimited Hydroplane Racing!  We love the sport, marvel over the photography and video productions, and intrigued about the business end of racing.

What are they?

We like to think of Unlimited Hydroplanes as:

  • having the aerodynamics and grace of a formula one race car,
  • the commanding presence of a fighter jet, and
  • the power and technical sophistication of the space shuttle!

OK, we may be exaggerating a bit – but not much!

Where do they race?

More places than you might think. Often where there’s wide water and warm weather.  From Madison, Indiana to Detroit, Michigan. From Tri-Cities and Seattle Washington, to San Diego, California. Hey, even the Persian Gulf is a hot spot for racing in Doha, Ad Dawhah, Qatar.

Why this site?

We love these boats! Can’t you tell?  We think more needs to be known about them – how they’re built. How they work. Who drives them. Who owns them. Who maintains them.  All of this will paint a picture of how the entire Unlimited Hydroplane Racing ecosystem operates. It’s a great sport and we’re here to spread the word to a wider audience.

How do I join in the fun?

Any way you like!  There will be plenty of opportunities to comment on stories we publish, ask questions, challenge our thinking, read product reviews, support our advertisers, buy stuff (yes, at some point you will have that opportunity) and generally shape how the site evolves.  If we see a lot of interest or activity in one area, we’ll invest more of our own time and effort there.

Ultimately, the best way to join in will be to attend a race. For most of us, most of the time, television will be our only opportunity. But there is nothing like being there and actually feeling the sound of the engines in your chest as these rockets on hulls bounce across the water what is less like a boat and more like a fighter jet flying very, very low.

We sincerely hope you accomplish that goal of attending a race in person!

For now, help us shape Unlimited Hydroplane Racing.com. Tell us what you want to see, what you want to learn, and how you want to consume that information.

Again, welcome to Unlimited Hydroplane Racing and thanks for riding along!
