Water Follies Needs Volunteer Boats

Regular readers of Unlimited Hydroplane Racing know about The Boat Book.  This is a collection of observations and perspectives relating to the challenges organizers face when trying to initiate a new (or returning) race to a region.  As mentioned many times before, a strong, expanding race circuit is good for the sport, the teams, and most importantly, the fans.

The timing on this announcement (I’ll get there in just a second) is a bit premature to align with the next installment of the Boat Book: Volunteers. I’m working on that section currently, so check back soon for an update on that.

For now, it is important to send out an S.O.S. for our friends in the Tri-Cities.

Be a Water Follies Patrol Boat!

Do you have an 18-22 foot that meets Coast Guard inspection standards? Do you want to be a critical participant in ensuring a successful Water Follies event? You’ve come to the right place!

Well actually, you need to call Kay Metz at 509.539.0632 or Duane Kist at 509.521.3651.

When the 48th running of the Columbia Cup takes place July 26-28, 2013 you can be a part of it – with a viewing post like no other.  Please consider lending your time, boat, and some fuel to a great event and help extend safe viewing to thousands of devoted fans.

Unlimited Hydroplane Racing is an exhilarating sport, with excitement, fun, and well… a little drama.  However, safety is a number one priority and you can help the good folks at the Columbia Cup keep all of us safe.

You can read a more extensive story in the Tri-City Herald.
